Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has declared that the top diplomat plans to discuss mutual ties and exchange views with Syrian officials on issues concerning regional and international developments.
The Iranian minister of foreign affairs visited Damascus in September 2021 in order to take part in the Regional Conference to Support Iraq and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as well as his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad.
Writing on his Twitter account in May, Amirabdollahian emphasized that a visit by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Tehran and his meetings with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi opened a new chapter in the strategic relationship between Syria and Iran.
The foreign minister went on to say, Iran is determined to enhance bilateral relations with Syria, noting that the Islamic Republic will continue to stand with Syria in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
Iran is “determined to enhance our bilateral relationship with triumph of Syria's resistance,” the FM said.
